The Eric Ayala foundation was originated after the passing of one of our closest brothers.
The Eric Ayala Memorial Foundation was started to honor the spirit and memory of our brother Eric. Eric was a graduate of Emerson High School Class of 1994. He was a three-sport athlete who was well respected by his brothers, peers and teachers alike.
In January of 2000, Eric was diagnosed with acute lymphatic leukemia. His spirit and attitude was amazing throughout his time with leukemia, and he truly taught those around him to appreciate all aspects of our lives, no matter what we may be dealing with.
Eric succumbed to leukemia on May 8, 2000. To honor Eric, we chose to partner with his foundation and help people in need. We want to convey Eric’s message of making the most of every day and always look to help others.
Every year the brothers participate in the Light the Night Walk hosted by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Brothers help volunteer for the event by helping set up the event, running the event, and cleaning up at the end. This charity is particularly close to heart for the brothers because of the loss of a brother to leukemia in May 2000. Eric Ayala had a hard fought battle with Leukemia until it unfortunately took his life. Aside from the Light the Night Walk, the brothers also host a LIft-a-thon every year to raise money for the Eric Ayala Scholarship fund which donates money to high school athletes who are going to college.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, a 501 charitable organization founded in 1949, is the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to fighting blood cancer. The LLS's mission is: cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
The Bulls continues to partner with the Wounded Warrior Project due to many of our own brothers actively and inactively in the service.
Wounded Warrior Project is a charity and veterans service organization that offers a variety of programs, services and events for wounded veterans of the military actions following September 11, 2001. It operates as a nonprofit 501 organization.
